Kurashi-no-Botanical Garden Special Program "Traditional Cherry Blossoms

About 400 varieties of primroses from the Edo period to the present day are exhibited in one place ！.

Traditional Cherry Blossoms" refers to a series of cherry blossom plants that have been produced since the mid-Edo period (（ Edo ・ Meiji ・ Taisho ・ Showa ）, when gardeners searched for unusual flowers among wild species and many varieties were created. In the Kurashi-no-Botanical Garden, a variety of cherry trees with different flower colors ・ and shapes are displayed, and the traditional way of viewing cherry trees is reproduced in a cherry flower bed donated in 2003.
In addition, under the theme of "Double Flowering of Primrose and the Genes Involved" this year, the ABC model of genes involved in flower morphogenesis will be introduced, and through dissection ・ observation of double-flowered primrose, it will be shown that the stamens change into petals, resulting in double-flowered flowers. In addition, a panel will explain the differences between single and double-flowered primrose in terms of the expression trends of genes involved in the ABC model of primrose in the organs of the stem, petals, petiole, stamen, and pistil.
