"War Runner" Synopsis
Everywhere in war-torn Sudan, children are kidnapped and homes are burned.
To save the life of 8-year-old Guor ・ Mariar, his parents, after much anguish, decide to let him escape
alone from their village. Guol wanders the battlefield and is eventually captured by the armed forces. "Let's run away."
He manages to run away before dawn. Luckily, he is sheltered in a refugee camp and
gets a ticket to immigrate to the United States. "I don't have to run anymore". He enters high school
and when he runs, he outruns everyone else. His first marathon qualified him for the 2012 London Olympics.
It was as if running was his destiny.

However, South Sudan was founded one year before the London Olympics. With no national Olympic committee,
there was no country to represent. Its participation was in jeopardy, but then a miracle happened. The International Olympic Committee （ and the IOC ） allowed the "man without a country"
to compete as an individual athlete. He ran with the expectations of the people of his homeland, South Sudan, on his
back, and finished the race. This is a moving documentary about the life of Guor, a man who continues to run with an indomitable spirit, and one who cannot help but be moved by it.
